Today my group finished the front cover of the project. We are working very well together and are making great progress. If we keep this up than we will finish this project.

Finished

Our group has finally come through and finished our project. We have a great summary of the book, and have added more photos and videos. Even though Glogster was troublesome, we came through and finished. Me and Marets interview finally uploaded, and that was the finishing touch to our project. We had tried dozens of times to upload it to our Glog but had not succeeded until today. Our group worked well with each gother and gave one another lots of critiques and ideas that made our product as a group better. Good Job Guys!

Glogster is okay

Glogster WAS supposed to have all these cool features like adding video and photos and other cool stuff. Turns out it was the worst online program i have ever used. This is far inferior to Prezi, a online tool that we used last year in 6 grade. The login problems were only the beginning of a slew of problems that my group had. Whenever we tried to upload anything like photos or videos, it would not load, and then it would freeze the download so we had to exit and try again. Glogster was said to have alot of features, but truly it only had a few that actually worked, and even then there was problems.
Overall, our group came out with a finished project and eventually got Glogster to upload the photos and videos. If we had used Prezi or any other program i think it would have gone better, but Glogster eventually worked, but we could have done alot more than i think we did.

Finally, my group is finished, we reviewed the pages of the cover, created a document with all the links to pages and now we are finished. We had trouble with inserting the vocab words, but we pulled through and got the work done. -Reagan

We Finished our project. It has a summary of the book, an autobiography, a picture of the book and walter dean myers. We also added a blabberize into our project.

FINISHED!!!!!

We finished just in time. In the end we added music comments on the book and more. We blabberized Walter Dean Myers saying the authors biography. I liked it when we tried to put Bob Marley singing on our blog but we ended up not putting it on at all.  I think the project ended out really good.

Finally Done

My group is done with the project, but it was impossible to get vocabulary words in! I couldn't find anywhere to put in vocabulary words. Let me know if you had trouble to.

We finally finished our project. It took us many tries but we got it done. The audio was a big issue and on the last day Sisi was not, and she had all the information on her computer. I would rate Glogster 2/5 just because we had so many issues with it.

Bad Boy Blog #3

On thursday my group and I finished our book summary. In the book summary, we really stressed that the book was going to take you back in time to the 1940's and 1950's of Harlem New York. I felt like the book summary was very strong. We also finished putting in the book reviews. I feel like our whole project came together strongly.    

Bad Boy Last Day

Well, today was our last day. We managed to finish without Tate. Since we couldn't figure out the audio we just used IMovie and did a voiceover with a couple slides. We got Tate's summary on  Walter Dean Myers along with some accomplishments. Aidan decided he was going to do the summary and email them to me to edit. Then I typed it into our poster and putting recordings in. I think our blog/poster turned out very good. I really liked reading Bad Boy and using glogster. I had fun doing the project and had no difficulties with our poster, which is good!

(Sorry this is up late my computer is broken at the moment so I couldn't post yesterday, I'm using my sisters computer right now).

Completely Finished

Well today we turned in our Bad Boy Media projects, and I have to say, it feels good to be done. Adding the vocab words, which I thought was going to be difficult, was much easier than expected. Overall, I was very happy with my groups performance and I enjoy these types of group activities.

Our group, Sean, Peter and I, finished our glogster today. I think everyone in my group did a great job helping out and making it a group effort. Peter did a great job with the pictures about his childhood. Sean made the short biography and putting everything in the right place to make it look good. I did the short summary and everyone helped out with the 5 vocabulary words which we had a tough time doing but we got them in.

WE JUST FINISHED

Logan, Avery and I finished last night a around 9:30.  It was exciting because I came up with some awesome ideas (so did Avery and Logan).  I had a lot of fun working with them.  I hope they think the same for  me.  Avery was good at finding all the videos and the summary.  Logan helped me with the biography and he also did the reviews.  We kept sharing some ideas in google docs and they were spectacular.  I would love working with them both again soon.

In the past days my group has encountered some problems and fixed some problems. We had a problem with the audio. Sisi fixed the problem by putting the speaker down. We recorded the summary of the book. We are almost finished with the project. We just have to edit and check if we have everything that's needed.

Today my group finished our Glog and it looks great! It has all the required elements and more. We had fun doing this project and our group worked well together. I'm glad my group got Glogster because it worked well for us.

Today me and my group will be proof reading the document, and making sure that everything is on the project that needs to be. We will also be adding other stuff to make the document more visually impressive. We never found any audio and I think my groupies have pretty much given up on that. Today we should be finishing up the project.

Last post

Today we are working on our finishing touches on our project.  We are checking through the rubric and making sure we have everything.  We are almost ready to present and we will probably be able to present today.

     We were almost done when Zach realized he didn't add the five vocab. words. All he had to do was add five while Gracie and I were putting the finale touches on the glog. We haven't finished the glog yet but I had to add what Zach did anyway.

Merritt blog 2

I felt ready to throw my computer at the wall at least 5 times over the course of this project. The reason: Glogster. In this blog, I have two more reasons why Glogster was sent from the devil to torture the FHS 7th Grade.

My first reason is that some of the fonts don't include basic characters such as a double asterisk. Today, I was polishing off the back cover of the glog and I realized that one of the quotes didn't have any quotation marks. I added them, only to find that instead of two asterisks, it was a question mark in that font. Strangely enough, when I tried typing an actual question mark in, it was in Times New Roman in a different color than I had been using. I honestly find it surprising that nobody's noticed this yet, and I think that the Glogster developers need to look into that as soon as possible.

Another issue was the fact that multiple people couldn't work on it at the same time. At least three times, I tried to work on parts of the glogs, but someone else would go on at the same time and save, so I would lose all of my work. This was extremely irritating because I will forget what I was going to write down unless I actually write it down, and I ended up losing boatloads of good writing on the summary and author bio because of that.

Despite all of that, my group still managed to submit a (in my opinion) very good project, so I shouldn't be complaining too much. I still feel like I have to share this though, because it made the process of completing it EXTREMELY difficult.

DONE, almost

YAY! we finished, sort of. I think that over all we did really nicely. We worked pretty productively, and we FINISHED the interview. that was the hardest part I think. Once we all finished our solo parts, everything kind of came together. Now all we need is a few more pictures. but over all, DONE!

AAAAHHHHHHHH NOT ENOUGH TIME

So we are trying to work pretty productively, and it's working out so far. Today we all started to work on our independent pieces to contribute to the project. I started our summery, and then we all kind of went over what we needed to do. We got a head start on our interview, but every time we would start to record, we would have to start over because we would jumble up the words. Hopefully well get the interview by tomorrow.

Gloster = Average

        For the Bad Boy project that Ms.Mckain assigned us we were using the program entitled Glogster. 

It was said to have many cool features such as adding, videos, pictures, text among other things. Our group had a lot of trouble with logging into accounts. We were only able to have two people logged into glogster at a time. Lindsey was never even able to get into glogster once until we were finished with the project. Whenever we tried to upload a picture to our background glogster would freeze and we would have to exit out of the program with nothing of our project saved and we would have to start over. It was VERY frustrating. It also did not have as many features as thought it might have, and the features that it did have were honestly not that great. 

      Overall I did not enjoy using Glogster and would much rather like to use another program such as prezi. Even though Glogster was probably not the best tool we could have use I think our group did come out with a decent finished product for our project. We were eventually able to upload pictures and do other cool things all though I still think it would have been possible to push us even further in this project then we did. 

Finally Done

               My group is finally finished with our glogster. I personally thought that we would not finish but we worked super hard and finished. The formatting kept getting messed up so I spent 20 minutes just fixing that. In my opinion I would use glogster again because I know how to actually use glogster now. I hope that we do something like this in the future. Next time I would do somethings differently like recording the summary instead of just typing it. At lease we are finally finished. 

The end

Today is finally the day. My entire group is done with everything! In class, I finished my summary for Bad Boy and made it more have more pizzaz than it was today. Rachel finished the biography of Walter Dean Myers and Sabra finished her part of putting reviews on our glog. I am so glad that we are done with glogster for this project.

Videos and Music

Today we finished our video.  We kept editing it over and over again.  Just trying to make it perfect.  Mostly because I was laughing or Logan wasn't PROJECTING his voice.  I am really upset at the fact that Glogster has some real issues.  Those of you who haven't seen the thunder, well it's coming.  Do you guys know how many times I have uploaded and reloaded our summary and bio. about Walter Dean Myers?  Let's just say many times.  It's really funny how Avery is the only one in our group who doesn't have any "Glogster Troubles".  I am so jealous of her.  I sometimes wish I was a bigger computer genius than I am right now.

      Finally, we are finished making our glog. We managed to get everything done on time, thank god.
It was really hard dealing with the issues that I told you about in my first blog, but we each finished up our main pages, and worked our independent vocab into the glog. Mary-Eliza, Lindsey, Abby and I managed to fix everything and work everything out, so I'm really thankful for that.

Today and glogster we did many different things.  One thing I did was I tried several time to put a blabberize thing on our glogster.  The blabberize people we done fixing it so it worked.  After the seventh try it worked.  We tried to put it on the glogster that did not work, so we had to ask the tech people about our problem.  I put Jazz music in the background of our glogster, because Walter liked to listen to the music of harlem.  We finished the recording of the review and put it on the glogster too.  Overall we did a good job for the day.

It took us a long time, but we finally finished our glogster. We went through a lot of work. We have four separate blogs, and they all look great. I can't wait to present it. Our hard work paid off. YAY!

We Finished!

Today we finished our project! We looked over everything, made spelling mistakes and looked over our summary one last time. But when we looked over our summary, we realized we didn't have any of our vocabulary words but we fixed that. In the end it all worked out and we finished!

Day #2

 Today, we did a lot. Tate is writing the biography of Walter Dean Myers. Aidan's writing the summary. I am editing our poster getting pictures and typing the reviews. We finally finished the video after doing it several times. We have out distractions around us and seem to end up in the commence. Overall we are almost complete. We did our voice recording and now we just have to finish it up. Thursday (today) Tate was not here and on Friday he will not be here. Good thing we are about to complete it. I like glogster because it's so easy to use. All we need is to complete a few things and were done! :)

It turns out we did have English today, even though it was a day earlier than our group expected Tate was still gone. We pushed as hard as we could but it's hard to get everything done when you have people distracting you. We ended up short so it will have to go to after school to finish up the project. Tate just sent the authors biography and im yet to finish up the summary. So our group will just have to wait for me to finish up the summary and then it will be done.

Finally Figured out how to use blabberize. used a picture of walter dean myers and had him reading our biography of him. AFter lots of times of trying to record it we finished.

Last Day

Today is out last day so I want to get a lot done. We need to do a lot of work but last time we got some done. I wish we were more productive in past classes but we can still make the time up. Today I am going to finish the review.

       Today is our last day to work on the project. Cami changed the blog a lot. I looks much cleaner and organized. I found some more pictures to make our poster more interesting. We just have to make a few tweaks and then we will be finished!

No English today

today we didn't have english, so we didn't do anything. there is not much to talk about except that we aren't done

Video and Glogster poster

Today we finished our video. This took a very long time because we kept laughing or doing stupid things. We finally finished because we concentrated on our work. When we finished our video we edited it. We are finishing our glogster poster. It is almost done and we have to add just a little more. We got distracted a lot when we were doing our video.

So Close to Being Finished

Lillie and I are close to finishing but we still have each one more slide to do. Lillie has to do Brown vs Board of Education and I have to find a few more facts about the Harlem Renaissance. The problem is that I can't find any more information about it and its one of the last slides we need to do before we are done.

Today our group made pretty good progress. We started by working on the poster and getting pictures, and then we divided ourselves up. I did the biography of Walter Dean Myers. We tried to make our glog look cool. But we couldn't get any other color than pink. But over all pretty good project so far.

We are Finished

We finished all of the Glogster project, and emailed it to Mrs. McKain. Glogster was a really, really bad program to use. It was frustrating because we couldn't add things onto it on our own computers, and we had to air- drop all the files and videos we made to Mary. But our overall presentation turned out okay. We have two videos, the authors biography, quotes, the summary, and five vocab words. We also found a photo of Walter Dean Myers when he was 11 years old, and a couple photos from the 50's in New York and Harlem. In the videos, we had an interview about what people thought about the book, and the summary read aloud.  Even though the presentation turned out okay, I don't want to use Glogster again.

We're THIS Close to Being Done!

My group and I decided to record a video for the Glog, with a scene from Bad Boy. It took a really, really, really long time to get a good take, but we were eventually able to get an acceptable video. After getting a good take, class was over, but we weren't ready. Today, one of our group members wasn't here, and that was a challenge, because she had the flash drive for our videos.  We were able to borrow one from the library, but it took a very long time to get all the videos onto the computer.

We haven't tried to get the one good take onto Glogster yet. I don't know how its going to work, or if it's even going to work at all. On my previous post, I talked about my Glogster issues, and uploading photos was one of them. I have a feeling that downloading a video will be the difficulties of uploading photos, times 10. But, we'll be able to eventually get it on of course. Missing a group member 2 different days set us back a bit, but we're trying to recover he time we lost. We're REALLY close to being done... unless the video takes forever :(

Glogster... not fun. POST 1

Glogster is seemed like an interesting idea in the beginning... but that didn't last long. After about 2 minutes I realized Glogster didn't work at all on my computer. Everything on the page had to constantly reload on Chrome, and I wasn't even able to access the Glog. I was on Chrome, so I decided to reopen it in Safari, and that ended up working a lot better for some reason. Even though I could open the Glog now, that didn't necessarily mean I could edit it well.
I couldn't see what anyone else in my group was doing and I would always end up editing on top of what they did because I couldn't see. I was able to add on pictures that took forever to load, but I couldn't type in certain text boxes. Glogster wasn't terrible; it functioned, but not well. I don't think I would recommend using it again. Maybe using Prezi next time would be better because it is easier to operate and you can see what everyone's doing.

Progress....i guess

Yesterday the Glogster problems got slightly better. Instead of spending almost the whole time trying to log in, we spit up into different sections. I worked on the videos and reviews, Abby worked on the summary; Mary worked on putting everything into the Glog and Dozie worked on the graphics and quotes. I thought this was a very functional system and helped us a lot.  Although, Glogster still generated numerous problems which was very fusterating. I think that doing a project the old fashioned way (not using technology) would have been a much more reasonable choice.

Glogster: A horror story

      When Mrs. McKain assigned us this project and informed us that it would be using a program called "Glogster"I was optimistic of the program. She described it as a "interactive poster, incorporated with multimedia". As we began to start the process of setting up a "Glog" we experienced many issues the setting up an account, ranging from password mishaps and long loading screens.

      As a group we shared one glogster acount and that in it self gave us problems. When we tried to save our writing it would fail to do so and lock out all other users on the account. In future years I would recommend every student having there own account to post there glogs.

      Now on to the program it self. In theory glogster sounds amazing right? Music, video, text, images anything that can help you express your self creatively to get your point across, but only if it works. The features of glogster at the time are limited, and can be approved apron. Instead of semmlesly dropping a picture into the fuchsia back drop you needed to navigate a wonky menu system then wait 3-5 min for the picture to completly upload.

      Bottom line here is that glogster can be an amazing creative tool, but only when it works.

Finished With Glogster

Today my group has finished their projects and we are adding the finishing touches. Everyone said that glogster was such a creative tool, but I disagree. It really did not jump out at me as unique or special. Needless to say it was a tough time working on it with all the difficulties we faced. Even though it got easier as time passed, I did not enjoy what glogster had to offer.

Bad Boy Media Project #3

Today in English class we were putting everything together for the due date the following day. I perfected my "about the book" part, and read through it to make sure everything was grammatically correct. After that Theo asked our opinions of his project. We all agreed that he did a good job. After that I asked Reagan, Rod, and Theo's opinions on my part. They all agreed and we put the project together.

Today, Rachel wasn't here. This was a problem, because she has the imovie that we have been working on. However, we were still able to have productive work. We worked on the reviews, and added them to our project. Tomorrow, we will complete the imovie and add finishing touches to everything, as the project is due tomorrow. I am extremely excited to see how the whole project turns out.

Bad Boy Media Project #2

Today in English Class me and my group were working on our English projects. We had just got together and were starting to talk about the jobs that we were going to do. There were 4 choices: About the author or the book, the cover, and the reviews. I chose about the book. I started thinking about a good part of the book to write about.

Glogster....Not My Favorite Choice....

My group is Dozie, Mary Eliza, Abby and I. We decided as a group to do Glogster.  In the beginning, we had an enormous amount of trouble with the website. No one in our group was able to log into our account on the website. Eventually, two of the four people in our group were able to access our account on the website. When they got onto the website, there were also many problems about saving the Glogs. Our group as a whole, truly disliked Glogster, me especially.  If I had to use this program again I would be openly disappointed. I think that Prezi would be a great alternative.

Almost Done!

We did a lot of work the last day and we plan to finish the project today. Our glogster has four pages, cover page, about the author, reviews, and about the book. We assigned each member a page to do, I (reagan) did about the author, ben did about the book, rod did cover page,  theo did the review page. I think this style of working helped a lot because of how much work we got done.

Bad Boy Media Project #1

Today in English Class me and my group were working on our media projects again. I chose to write about the book on the first page. I based the passage on the part of the book about the "class bully" which was at the start of the book. I had to add two words from Bad Boy vocabulary. The "about the book" section is looking very good so far.

Yesterday I finished our groups biography for Walter Dean Myers. Kate and Aidan did the voice recording. We are almost done with the project. I will be leaving today and will not be coming back until Wednesday. I think that Kate and Aidan will finish the project without me.

Glogster < Prezi

My group is with Sayeed, Delaney,  Mariane, and I. At first we all had trouble with the site, for example the blogs weren't saving even after we hit the save button. I like Prezi over only because of the saving issue with Glogster. Other problems with Glogster were that t is hard to maneuver the pictures and videos. Even when I was typing in the box it was always typing in the wrong area. Another thing I really disliked about Glogster was the picture boxes. I wasn't able to type in the boxes for pictures.

Hi! This is Lauryn S. The process of our bad boy project is going fantastic! Aubree, Carson, Meghan and I are putting the finishing touches on our glog. We are going to do a front cover, a back cover and a title page. I really enjoy working with them.

Today was an, alright workday the fact that Kate almost deleted our whole project made it a bad day, but we did get a ton of work done so that is what made it alright. It stinks though because Tate isn't going to be here for the final day so me and Kate are going to have to come up big on Friday if we can hope of finishing. I guess we're not that far off though because all that's left to do is voice recordings, the summary, and some more pictures to fill in the blanks. So lets all hope that our group can come up big on the final day.

Although there are MANY MANY MANY things i hate about glogster, I am only going to talk about two. What I'm doing in my group is the editing, so I'll blog about what is a major pain for me in that area of glogster.

First of all, the theme of our group's project is a composition notebook, and it's hard to pull off because of the extremely small font selection, and I'm trying to make it look like Walter Dean Myers himself is writing in it, but it's hard to do that when your choice is limited to Times New Roman, Andy, Verdana, and a few others. Another issue I have is the inability to horizontally or vertically expand a shape. While this seems like a petty issue, it actually is excruciatingly annoying when trying to expand a quote bubble to span across the entire page without taking up all the space. For that reason we had to completely rethink our back cover.

My point is: While glogster is cool in theory, it has a LONG way to go before it won't frustrate me deeply like it does now.

Bad Boy Blog #2

Yesterday in english class my group and I finalized our book cover. Also, we started our book reviews. I also started writing the book summary. Being able to all work on glogster as a group helped significantly. I think that our group made significant progress on our glogster yesterday.  

Why I absolutely DETEST Glogster

          As most people know, we had to do a Bad Boy Media Project. In our class, when we had to choose between Glogster and Make Believe comics. Looking back now, I think the unanimous decision among the class is that we should have just done a comic instead. There are very many problems with glogster, but as this is only 2-3 paragraphs, I'm only going to highlight a few

          First of all, it was slow. Frustratingly slow. We were advised to make only one account and that everyone could work on it at the same time this way. This was false. There was only 2 periods of time when all of us worked together on one "Glog" And even then, it took us spamming the reload button for us to see what our fellow group members had edited. Another huge problem was accessibility. It took my group about 3 attempts to successfully upload a picture, and if we tried to make it our background image, that screwed everything up. It took 3 members of my group each trying twice to upload a video, and then we still had issues moving the video to the right spot.

     
          Basically, I'm just saying, to do all the kids that do this project after us a favor, DONT USE GLOGSTER. Use Prezi! Multiple people can work at the same time, and it moves fast enough to counter the wifi problem! And this isn't just my opinion, ask my entire class! If you walked in at any time of this project, you would hear someone complaining about Glogster, whether it was Lindsay Smith saying it was stupid, or Spencer saying, "I'm gonna cut Glogster into bite sized pieces and feed it to dogs!"

         On a slightly different topic, what kind of name is glogster? Like what possesses you to make you say, "I'm going to make a program called..... GLOGSTER!!!" I'm just saying.

Abby Blog Post

 We are almost finished with the Glogster presentation. Mary is doing putting everything into Glogster, and we are air- dropping the files to her. None of us like Glogster because only one person can work on it at a time. We’ve finished the author’s biography, video, summary, and all the other things we needed to do. I think we just need to put them in the Glogster, and then we’ll be done. 

Glogster is ok......I guess

For the past two classes me and my group have been working on the same account but different computers. It has been difficult because it never  showed each of our edits on every single screen. It actually deleted some work that we did, but we got through it. Glogster is great but if they could make a few tweaks to it, it would be even better.

Close to being done

My group is close to being done. I finally finished my segment on the summary of bad boy. Don't get me wrong, glogster had many annoying parts to it. Why did it take so long to actually work? On the first day, glogster made us lose almost the whole class period just TRYING TO LOG IN!! We finally got in and were able to work. Next time we do a project, I think we should do a new system.

We are almost done

Today I finished the reviews and we started to find more pictures for our glogster. Also have you ever noticed how much glogster is annoying. I swear that every time I try to switch the size of the letters it changes it bigger instead of smaller. I think glogster is out to get me. I hope tomorrow we can finish. 

Today we did many things like, we started making our video, we also started putting pictures and putting our summary and biography on the poster. I think that we worked very diligently in class. Next class is our last class to work on our Glogster witch is the way we are presenting about the book Bad Boy by Walter Dean Myers. 

Today in class I worked on the reviews for the book. Most of the reviews were saying that the book was ok, but was super boring. I got very frustrated because the glogster would not save, so I kept having to re type the book reviews.

Today in class we did several things.  Yesterday we though we did the recording, but it turns out that we did not.  We did the recording this time and next time we are going to grab it and put it on our glogster.  We also try to put a blabberize thing in are glogster.  It was not connecting.  It turns out the they, the blabberize people, were working on it so it was impossible for me and our group to use it today.  We were going to put a picture of Walter Dean Myers and have him speaking his biography.

Catching Up

Today in class I finished our first front page of the glogster. It looked really cool. Now my group is working on our back page. So far we put really nice comments supporting the book. Also, Timmy wrote bigger parts to the summary. I think my group will be done in no time!

The other day...

The other day during the Bad Boy Project, my group, me, Rod, Reagan, and Ben, all were working on our project. We really wanted to stop using glosgster, because it is really hard to work. We all got confused and angry, and could barely get any work done. we wanted to do an actual poster. But we were turned down. It has to be electronic. Ugh...

What's good about BAD BOY

     Today my group was working on are glog and we were almost done with are summary and we were doing are glog on how we didn't like the book. We found out we had to do it on why we liked it and we had to start it over. We were almost done and we had to do it over, and we couldn't think of why we liked the book.

My group really dislikes blogger, we always have problems on it. I finished the author's biography and Spencer finished the summary. We're almost done with the project, we just have to put in the 5 vocab words.

FINISHED!

My group finally finished the comic strips! We had to start over on 1 because we accidentally had a typing mistake. Either then that we finished with confidents. We also added all the 5 Bad Boy Vocabulary! I feel so accomplished!

Today my group had problems signing into Glogster again. Livi finished the cover page and started the back page. Timmy looked through each of the glogs and Jonathan looked for pictures. I helped Livi with the back page.

Today me and my group found a video and we are currently looking for audio. We have almost completed our project. We think that our video will really help the project because it really explains a lot to someone who has never read the book Bad Boy. Anyway my group and I will continue to search for audio.

Today in class, my group is trying to figure out how to use 3 more vocabulary words in our comic strip.  So far we got 4 now. Just one more to go! Building a comic strip is really hard because only one of us can use it while the rest of us have to come up with subtotals or dialogue. Its also hard because while one works on the computer its easier for the others to get distracted and pay no attention.

Today me and my group got more interviews,found a video and worked on our summery more.When we tried to put the video on one of the little cloud things it wouldn't work.We kept trying and trying but we still couldn't do it so we just left the video as it was and moved on. But at the end of the day we ended up getting a lot done.

Today Lauryn, Meghan, Carson and I finished up the project. We put in the quotes in the back cover! Scaned then drawing onto the front cover! It was a lot of fun!!

Almost Done

Lillie and I are almost done. We still have to do two more slides and we need to add more pictures. So far we have a video about Jackie Robinson and a picture of Elizabeth Barrett Browning.

Right now I'm in English class working on the Bad Boy project with Cami and Faith. I just finished the summary I had to write, Cami is working on decorating our Glogster, and Faith is also blogging. It looks like we are really coming down to a great finished product and I'm excited to see how great it looks in the end.

P.S. I'm also really excited because Mrs. Salewski emailed Walter Dean Myers and asked him to have a skype session with the class

Music and googledocs

Today we added music and added onto Google docs. We added our summary and biography onto our glogster page. We looked through nia's music for a song for about five min. We found one that fit perfectly. We are still adding to our glogster page. We uploaded the music to the glogster page.
We are doing our video today and we plan to finish it. We are finding out who will be the interviewer,
and who will answer.

Comix

Today we worked some more on comix. I had to provide Tyson and Dillon with words for our comix. It is very hard because as you are working with a tiny little speech bubble and people who won't communicate with you. I talked with Jack's group and helped out my group. We are so close to finishing!

Bad Boy blog #2

     Today Cami is going to load the biography that I wrote. So far on our poster, we have pictures, a video, stickers, and animated butterflies. Rachel P. just finished the summery. We are now going to find a quote from Walter Dean Myers to put in a text box. After that we will add music.

Summary

Today I wrote the summary for the glogster project.  It was harder than I thought. I could not finish it in one class. My group was more on task today and stopped looking to other stuff and talking to other groups.

David Blog 2

My group has done some work outside of class on my account. I think that this is a very good thing. My group has been very productive lately and we have also made a lot of progress.

Today we are working hard to finish our glog. At first we were not able to get anything done, the glog kept freezing up and not doing what we wanted it to. But we were able to get a lot of stuff done yesterday. We were able to get the reviews started and the glog started coming together. We still need to figure out what we are going to do for the cover. That is something that we are going to have to think about. We have some ideas for it but none of them are that good. We also forget some of our jobs because we never made a list for it.

Today Aidan, Kate and I worked on the voice memo, reader reviews, summery, and photos. We got a little of each done. We have a good start to our voice memo and pictures. The rest is coming along. We just need to be a little more organized.

We finally got a good start

Today my group finally found out what we all are doing. Also we actually got started on glogster and it  is actually coming together.  I also learned that if you are doing reviews you can just make up random names and say stuff like this is cutting edge entertainment by some random name.So I am actually making progress the first day we started the project I all I did was figure out how to make an account on glogster. I hope tomorrow I can finish my part of the project.    

Learning more about Walter Dean Myers

Tonight at the hospital I worked on the glogster. I found a really interesting video about Walter Dean Myers. He os a children's author and he visited a ton of schools. All the kids asked him very personal questions but he simply stayed calm and basically told him the story of his life, and where he grew up. Also I found out that Walter has written more than 50 books for children.

Text Boxes

It is so hard just to type a paragraph without having to figure out that you weren't even typing anything.  It's so frustrating!  So instead Logan, Avery and I just decided to type everything in a word document first then to copy and paste it onto Glogster.  They should really upgrade that website.  Is it just me or do you just want to throw your computer across the room?  I am 89% sure that we will have it totally complete by Friday. Although I do trust in my group (and myself).  We should get it all done without any more touch-ups before Thursday.  I can't guarantee though.

It's hard to include vocab words

For the make belief comix assignment it is so hard to include the words from Bad Boy vocab. This is because when I put in the dialog, there isn't any words in that chapter that were on the list. This makes it hard to include them in the comic.
So now we have to make up that Walter says something with a word in it rather than just take it from the book. Now we have him working with an apparatus that helps him talk right, and him wanting to yodel while his friend complains how excruciating it would be. This is annoying because it is hard to tell the story properly with including these words.

Today, Caroline, Catherine and I were working on our iMovie portion of the project. We completed all the slides for the summary of Bad Boy and are currently adding pictures. Maja wasn't here today for class, so we didn't get to update the back cover but it wasn't really a problem. So far, the project has been going great with no troubles coming our way. My group was very productive today and got a lot done even though Maja was absent. I'm really thrilled to see how the iMovie will come out!

Productive Day

Today in class our group had a very productive day. We finally got the ball rolling to start on our project. We completed our cover page. Lindsey recorded a video, Abby wrote a summary, Dozie found quotes from the book, and I worked on adding all of the elements to the glog. I think our team works quite well together, we all have our own jobs and get them done efficiently. I think we have gotten a lot of work done since that last time that we had worked on it. We had a good system of other people in the group air dropping things to people so we could get the documents, pictures, and videos we needed from other people.  I am excited to see what our final glog looks like. Hopefully we can explore more elemnts to this program and have our project turnout the best that it can be.

Glogster Nick S., Johnny N., Sean C.

Today in class Johnny, Sean, and I did a lot of work.  I finished the summary.  My summary is pretty long.  Johnny got three reviews.  And Sean started and almost finished the the biography.  We found out how to record something (a review) and put it on our glogster.  Johnny review Sean, Dennis, and I. Dennis's review was negative and Sean's and I were positive reviews.  Mine was recorded.  We were pretty productive today.  I hope we can finish the front of the back cover tomorrow.

Jackie Robinson videos

Yay! I can finally post on my own account! So if anyone is trying to search for videos of Jackie Robinson, there isn't much real footage of him playing baseball, at least there isn't much on You Tube, but there are lots of interviews about him and a few with him from the History channel and others like it.

Embedding a Video into Powerpoint/Google Presentation

As Khadeeja and I are working on Google presentation, (because none of the other options worked) we  were told to try to embed a video relevant to the character or event from Bad Boy on every slide, or at least put plenty of pictures. Google made it really easy to just click on an 'attach video' button and enter in the hyperlink. We couldn't have done it without Youtube of course, which also made embedding a video simple and fast:) Our luck's begining to turn!

Today in class lauren and I worked on Walter Dean Myers Autobiography. Glogster is very confusing and hard to work with, but once Lauren and I learned how to make text boxes and stuff it was much easier to work with. Next class I will work on the reviews.
